Trust in digital information has never been more fragile. Every day, photos, videos, and documents are manipulated, compromising data integrity and fueling fraud, disinformation, and disputes.
In this context, ensuring authenticity becomes essential. We discussed this with Enrico Pagliarini on Radio 24 during a podcast interview, where our CEO and co-founder, Fabio Ugolini, shared how TrueScreen is setting a new standard for the acquisition, signing, and management of legally valid and evidentiary data to restore trust in digital information.
TrueScreen in detail: how we ensure data authenticity
During the interview with Radio 24, CEO Fabio Ugolini explained how TrueScreen stands out by guaranteeing the authenticity of what is known in digital forensics as the chain of custody of evidentiary files. “Our solution certifies digital content such as photos, videos, screenshots, and audio recordings directly from mobile devices, making an otherwise complex process accessible by combining several technologies,” said Ugolini. A timestamp and digital seal are applied to each captured file, eliminating the risk of manipulating sensitive data such as GPS location and date.
Our forensic methodology ensures that every collected piece of information is not only authentic but also incontestable. “It’s become far too easy to manipulate and alter data,” warned Ugolini, citing a recent report by the World Economic Forum that identified misinformation as one of the top global threats. The CEO also emphasized how the growing inability to “trust what we see” is becoming a serious issue with major professional, economic, and social consequences. TrueScreen addresses this challenge at the source by certifying data during the acquisition process, ensuring content remains trustworthy and reliable.
Applications and use cases: where TrueScreen makes a difference
TrueScreen’s solution is used by banks, insurance companies, consulting firms, and public administrations to streamline the collection, signing, and management of digital information, ensuring full compliance with international cybersecurity and forensic standards.
During the interview, Ugolini highlighted a particularly relevant use case involving fraud related to Italy’s Superbonus initiative: “Many scams were carried out by manipulating photos and videos documenting project progress. In some cases, key data like GPS location or acquisition dates were altered. In others, the same images were reused in different contexts to claim work that was never done. This is why capturing the full context at the moment of acquisition is essential—properly certifying the content and context is the key to preventing fraud and ensuring the authenticity of information.”
Beyond the construction sector, TrueScreen’s technology is also making a significant impact in the insurance field. Certified photos of car accidents, for instance, help speed up claims processing and reduce disputes. But TrueScreen’s use cases go beyond business contexts. We also collaborate with human rights organizations, including those helping women who are victims of cybercrime. “In these cases, certified screenshots and digital images become crucial evidence to report and prove the abuse,” Ugolini pointed out.
Security and flexibility at the core of TrueScreen’s technology
TrueScreen combines advanced security with operational flexibility to deliver a user-friendly, multichannel solution. Available as a SaaS platform, mobile app, and via API/SDK integrations with corporate software, our platform is designed to adapt to any need—whether for businesses or private users—thanks to its availability on the iOS and Android app stores.
The combination of accessibility and advanced security is what makes our technology truly unique. “Our security is so advanced that even we don’t know how to bypass it,” Ugolini remarked. In addition, the platform undergoes regular testing by external experts to ensure it remains robust against cyberattacks.
A further distinguishing aspect of our solution is its independence from blockchain technology. “When people think of digital certification, blockchain often comes to mind. However, blockchain cannot guarantee the authenticity of data at the time of acquisition as we do,” Ugolini explained.
