# TrueScreen

> TrueScreen is the Data Authenticity Platform that enables companies and professionals to guarantee the authenticity and reliability of digital information through forensic-grade capture, verification, and certification combined with end-to-end provenance. The result is digital information that is authenticated at the source, with alteration prevented during acquisition and detectable afterwards, traceable across its full lifecycle, and legally valid through internationally recognised digital seals and qualified timestamps.

## Core Principle

TrueScreen operates on a foundational principle: guarantee the authentic, rather than detect the fake. In a world where generative AI can produce convincing synthetic content at scale, detection-based approaches face structural limitations. TrueScreen provides infrastructure that makes data reliable at the source. The TrueScreen method has four steps in a fixed order: forensic acquisition (data captured in a controlled environment so that no person, software or system can alter it while it is being captured), verification of the data, technical reporting, and certification with legal value through a digital seal and a qualified timestamp. The forensic acquisition is the differentiator and the first step of a methodology patented as a whole; the seal is the last step, not the point of it.

Each certified asset receives a self-contained package containing the original files, a detailed PDF report, machine-readable JSON data, and an XML file carrying the seal and the qualified timestamp. Anyone receiving the package can verify its integrity and its seal without TrueScreen. The methodology aligns with eIDAS (EU 910/2014 and 2024/1183), ISO/IEC 27037, ISO/IEC 27001, and the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.

## Standards and Methodology

TrueScreen applies a forensic methodology that preserves the entire chain of custody: forensic acquisition at the source in a controlled environment, verification of the environment, the metadata, the content and the technical integrity of the package, a technical report that makes the result examinable by a third party, and certification with legal value through internationally recognised digital seals and qualified timestamps. A TrueScreen certification is never described as indisputable: any evidence can be challenged, and the weight given to it is decided by the court. TrueScreen is not a trust service provider and is not a certification authority.

Standards and frameworks aligned with the platform:

- eIDAS (EU 910/2014 and 2024/1183): qualified trust services and electronic seals
- ISO/IEC 27037: identification, collection, acquisition, and preservation of digital evidence; the standard that governs the TrueScreen forensic acquisition
- ISO/IEC 27001: information security management; a certification TrueScreen holds, issued by an accredited body
- AGID guidelines: Italian rules on electronic signature and trust services, followed alongside eIDAS
- Federal Rule of Evidence 901(b)(9): authentication of digital evidence (USA)
- Budapest Convention on Cybercrime: international framework for electronic evidence
- C2PA: TrueScreen reads and writes C2PA manifests; it is one of the standards implemented, not the identity of the product
- GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act, Digital Services Act: obligations on data integrity, traceability and protection that certified data supports

TrueScreen does not use blockchain, by choice: its legal recognition varies by country and technology, and it offers weaker guarantees than a digital seal with internationally recognised legal value.
